This one kinda hurt. Playing 3/6 at Bally’s I was dealt two red aces on the button. Elation! I hadn’t seen aces in a few days, and needed to make up for lots of bad luck over the past week. Here’s the gist of the hand:
Four or so people limp in, I raise, and the BB and limpers call. Flop is K93 rainbow, or something equally innocuous. It’s checked around to Mark, who bets. He’s a middle aged vacationer, playing poker with his wife, and isn’t very good. I raise. Fold, fold, fold, call. Just me and Mark. Turn is another 3, so now even if he has K9, he’s pretty screwed because I have a better two pair. He checks, I bet, He calls. The pot is right around 60$ I figure.
K on the river. He checks, I check, and he says “you were supposed to bet.” Uh … you weren’t supposed to hit your two outer. Mark has KJ, and out of the 44 possible river cards, only the two remaining kings would have won it for him. Blarg!
